Young Woman with Daisies (detail) Emile Vernon, Oil on canvas, #art - Teshil_com.jpeg

“The splendor of the rose and the whiteness of the lily do not rob the little violet of its scent nor the daisy of its simple charm. If every flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its loveliness”

-St. Therese of Lisieux

This week beauty found me where my ego lives. I questioned, I compared, and I sulked a bit.

I have been working on creating my very first photography prints. And this week, I questioned myself, “who am I?”, and “how will this make any difference?”.

There are SO many talented photographers already. My photographs will not be technically better and their eye sees just as well as mine. So, why am I doing this?

Have you ever felt anything similar? Where you wanted to start something, change something, do something, and, well, you started thinking of all the ways it wouldn’t work?

I think this is where many people wake from their dreams, never to know how the dream will play out.

A little girl named Marie Francoise-Therese Martin, from a small town in France dreamed of becoming a saint, yet she was an ordinary girl, living an ordinary life.

She discovered that a life of great deeds, like winning battles on a battlefield, was not possible for her, so she focused on what she could, small acts, small sacrifices, and thoughtful words.

She unknowingly found her own way to sainthood…Saint Therese of Lisieux.

What I was shown this week is we are all given gifts. It is our job to use them. Not to compare them or question them.

We might think our gift and its reach are limited but there are no small gifts. There are no large gifts.

Only gifts.

Each of us has our own. They are all unique.

The question is, do you finish the dream or do you wake yourself up? ❤️
