sing me a song...(p.33)
I have recently thought about songs, and how they bring about such a stir within us.
Music is like a magical spell that drifts in through our ears, sings a charm, and we are whisked away. I only wish I had that gift.
The words that I write can only travel so far within. But songs…they dive into our deepest rooms.
Words without melody, without voice, cannot venture as far. To be that artist who writes their songs and sings on stage…
SING ME A SONG
Sing me a song, and I will be yours.
Capture me with your words.
I’ll find myself in your chorus.
Your verses are my book.
Let us dance together for a while.
Our journey will begin with the very first note.
Take me to your castle where lovers and foes live.
Your bridges cross well-guarded moats,
And your hooks live within The Great Halls.
Keep me here for as long as you can
For when the lutes and harps no longer play
I must return back to where I came.
Sing me a song, and let me stay.
For no other place have I felt portrayed truer than your words.
Sing me a song so time can be rewound.
Where everything feels as it once was,
With a flicker of a wand, my wish to return has been granted.
You are, as you once were,
To live that moment again…and again.
Sing me a song so I can dream.
Your melody is a torch that guides me out of the darkest place
and carries me to the brightest tower.
I see, where once I could not.
I believe, where I once would not.
I speak, where I once should not.
You sing for us all.
Our voices grow stronger,
we echo your words
until the very last string is played.
Sing me a song, and I will be yours. ❤️
