all of our threads...(p.34)

Life is a story that we sew.

It begins magically and purely, a “once upon a time.”

Our robes are custom-made.

Along the way, we may tailor the parts that seemingly do not fit,

the stitches that are different than others stand out.

We innocently begin to pull at our threads

and tuck them away.

As the story goes on, our robe becomes uncomfortable

but we do not know why.

We try to mend ourselves to fit the dress we altered.

We grow farther and farther away from that “once upon a time,”

until we no longer can bear what our needle has undone.

Those pieces that we tucked away, the threads that we pulled out,

they are still there…they are waiting in our pocket.

Seams can be stitched back…

they only need to be remembered.

Our story is best told with empty pockets and all of our threads.❤️
