the change of seasons (p.3)
This week I have thought a lot about how one season slips into the next. How one starts to fade and the other starts to brighten.
I love this period of blending of the two, something stirs inside me. How nature lengthens or shortens the days and nights, or how it changes the food that it provides. My routine slips into another, the change of what one wears, the fabric with which it is made, how one season calls to emerge, then the other to hibernate with two seasons in between to ease us through. It’s a beautiful symphony.
I have learned that it’s this time right before a new season that I love the most, the in-between. Where, you are in a season, though it is feeling like the next. How one prepares for the upcoming change. I like this time, it somehow excites me.
So, here we are, Spring spilling into Summer, the in-between. I love it here. My heart is eager for the warmth of the sun, long walks, the glistening sun on the water, the smell of the grill, stray corn silk on the ground, open windows, crickets chirping, replacing cozy sweaters for flowy shirts, feeling the grass beneath my feet, the call of the ocean, the smell of saltwater...summer.
I fall in love with the new season in the “in-between”, feels like we are dating.
Like Zephyrus’s wind blowing in from winter to Mercury chasing away the last clouds before summer, Botticelli seems to see how the seasons flow in and out as well.
Here’s to new seasons. May you fall in love with the “in-betweens”. ❤️
